Cannabis Legalization Should be Considered, Says Republican Senator John McCain
In a sign of the changing times, Senator John McCain, who was the Republican presidential nominee in 2008, has publicly stated that he feels the U.S. should consider legalizing cannabis
, an announcement that will come as a surprise to many.
“Maybe we should legalize”, stated Senator McCain at a town hall event yesterday in Arizona, “We’re certainly moving that way as far as marijuana is concerned. I respect the will of the people.”
This statement from Senator McCain will likely be welcomed by the 56% of those in Arizona who support the legalization of cannabis, as expressed in a poll released in May.
As one of the more politically-powerful Republicans in the Senate, having Senator McCain’s openness to cannabis legalization is certainly a positive revelation.
