Cannabis Legalization Should be Considered, Says Republican Senator John McCain

In a sign of the changing times, Senator John McCain, who was the Republican presidential nominee in 2008, has publicly stated that he feels the U.S. should consider legalizing cannabis, an announcement that will come as a surprise to many.

“Maybe we should legalize”, stated Senator McCain at a town hall event yesterday in Arizona, “We’re certainly moving that way as far as marijuana is concerned. I respect the will of the people.”

This statement from Senator McCain will likely be welcomed by the 56% of those in Arizona who support the legalization of cannabis, as expressed in a poll released in May.

As one of the more politically-powerful Republicans in the Senate, having Senator McCain’s openness to cannabis legalization is certainly a positive revelation.
