In total, 50 fliers were distributed across Seattle, each of them with the message; “These are tough times. Take this WEED. And leep your spirits high @danksyappleweed”.
“People mostly laughed,” Sleidi told the Associated Press yesterday.
Sleidi says she first came up with the idea in New York, during a time when her friends were effected severely by the government shutdown. She wanted to distract them from their stress, so she began distributing free cannabis to them, and others around New York.
Sleidi says, however, that she was unwilling to attach her name to it, though she feels comfortable doing so now after the passage of Initiative 502 in 2012, which legalized the possession of up to an ounce of cannabis in Washington.
“I felt so relaxed about it … I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing it elsewhere in the country,” she says.
