United States Approves Transfer of Marc Emery Back to Canada
The United State’s government has approved a prisoner transfer application for Marc Emery, according to Cannabis Culture, the organization he founded.
Marc is currently serving a 5 year prison term for selling cannabis seeds online to Americans through his Canadian company (something that dozens of companies do – selling seeds in Canada isn’t a crime). During their press release of his arrest, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) made it clear that the arrest was political, claiming that it’s “a significant blow” to the marijuana legalization movement, and that “Drug legalization lobbyists now have one less pot of money to rely on” – Marc is known for donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to efforts aimed at legalizing cannabis.
The transfer must now be approved by Canadian authorities before Emery can be moved back to Canada.
“It’s great news that the US Department of Justice has approved Marc’s transfer home,” stated Jodie Emery, “I hope the Canadian Conservative government quickly approves the paperwork on their end so it becomes official and Marc can come home to Canada.”
