Survey Finds 79% of U.S. Mayors Support Decriminalizing Cannabis

cannabiscuresnauseaA new survey conducted by Politico Magazine has found that an overwhelming majority of U.S. mayors support decriminalizing cannabis.

“The surveyed mayors, themselves uniquely positioned to feel the brunt of the federal drug policies, overwhelmingly encouraged the decriminalization of marijuana, with 79 percent of the mayors suggesting that the federal government follow the lead of an increasing number of cities like Washington, D.C., and even whole states like Colorado”, states Politico.

The survey – which focused on other issues other than just cannabis decriminalization (finding nine out of ten mayors express concerns about the state of race relations and police in their city) – was conducted with a sampling of mayors “spanning the country from Philadelphia to Tampa to San Francisco to New Orleans to Anchorage”.
