Legal Recreational Cannabis Sales Begin In Washington State On Tuesday
On Monday, July 7th, the Washington State Liquor Control Board will distribute licenses to businesses across the state planning to sale recreational cannabis. Following the distribution of the licenses, a 24-hour moratorium on sales will begin, with stores able to open their doors to anyone 21 and older the following day, Tuesday, July 8th.
The name and location of the accepted businesses will be announced by the Board on Monday. In total 334 applications were accepted for recreational cannabis retail outlets, with final inspections for most of these locations taking place in recent days.
Under Washington State law, anyone 21 and older can possess, use and purchase up to an ounce of cannabis. An individual is also allowed to possess, use and purchase up to 72 ounces of cannabis-infused liquids, and up to 16 ounces of cannabis-infused solids.
In Colorado, recreational cannabis sales began in January, and has since resulted in millions of dollars of tax revenue for the state, a reduction in crime and a plethora of new jobs.

I just wanted to get this cleared up. The article says Wednesday July 8th. But the 8th is Tuesday…
“Following the distribution of the licenses, a 24-hour moratorium on sales will begin, with stores able to open their doors to anyone 21 and older the following day, Wednesday, July 8th.”
Does this mean stores will open Tuesday July 8th, or Wednesday July 9th? Since licenses will be issued on Monday (July 7th) and then there will be a 24 hour moratorium on sales, that means it will begin Wednesday July 9th correct? Hopefully someone can clarify that for me, thanks!

Hi Todd, we apologize for the typo – we meant to say Tuesday, July 8th, not Wednesday.

No problem. Thanks for the clarification!
