Wow. This makes strike two for me. The things this cartoonist finds funny are anything but. I appreciate irony, but this is not irony. It is dark humor at best and this reader does not feel it belongs in this venue. People should not be laughing at very real situations like this cartoon presents.

Welcome to satire.

I welcome satire. I consider Jon Stewart to be a masterful example, among others. My guess is you have never been raided. For those who have, the reality of a taser used on your mother or bullets fired at your pet are not sources of laughter.

Satire is not required to be humorous. It is a critique of the situation.

From your own link:
Full Definition:
1: a literary work holding up human vices and follies to ridicule or scorn
2: trenchant wit, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly
Use simple definitions…get simple understanding.

Nice name calling. Sure, now I understand. We get to pick and choose the definitions that suit our needs. Simply stated, you ignore my choice of definition and expect me to respect yours. Good luck with that. P.S. I take back the friendly smile I offered and recommend you try using COMPLETE definitions which can offer you a full understanding of what it sometimes feels like for us simple-minded folks when our families are tased and beloved pets are killed.

“Simply stated, you ignore my choice of definition and expect me to respect yours. Good luck with that. ”
What actually happened was I used the full definition as opposed to the simplified definition you used. Wit is always humorous. Irony and sarcasm may be humorous or may be scornful. So while satire may be humorous, it is not required. This is clear when you use the full definition of the word and not the simplified definition.
Thus if you use a simple definition you understand the word simply.
There’s no name calling being done. It’s a statement of the depth of knowledge imparted by the level of definition.

Let us ask the people of Mio, Lewiston, Gaylord and Vanderbilt Michigan where just 4 short days ago their lives were up-ended in an onslaught of shocking raids how they receive these “cartoons”. Do you honestly believe that the victims of those raids, coming to a blog site for support and affirmation would welcome this cartoon? In any context?
My comment was about the insensitivity of such postings. Your responses have never addressed the subject of my comment, only your justification for the publication of the cartoon. From The Joint Blog “About Us”:
TheJointBlog.com is a cannabis news and information website.
Please help me understand what constitutes cannabis news or information in either of the thus far posted 2 Canna-Toons By Jerry King.
Bob the grower
I live in Mi8chigan up in the northern area where the raids went on.
This cartoon almost made me ill.
This is not funny, it’s the truth.
Being raided is horrifying and will give most folks PTSD.
I find this “cartoon” in very bad taste, now I have to leave this blog to find refuse where they are not making fun of folks getting raided.
This is not funny. Not cool.
