New Washington State Bill Would Repeal Marijuana Legalization, Bring Back Prohibition

Legislation to fully repeal the legalization of marijuana has been filed in Washington State.

House Bill 2096 was filed by State Representative Brad Klippert (R-Kenniwick) with no cosponsors. The measure would fully repeal “the statutes that legalize the use, possession, sale, or production of marijuana and marijuana-related products.”

In other words the measure would bring the state back to before cannabis was legalized in 2012; however, things would be even worse off than then, given that the state’s medical marijuana system was shuttered recently by lawmakers in favor of the regulated market established by Initiative 502 (which this new measure would shutdown).
