This Indian-Owned Las Vegas Dispensary May Just Be the Most Unique Pot Shop in the World

By Jeremy Kossen

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been nearly five years since the first recreational cannabis dispensaries opened.

Pot shops began selling recreational weed first in Colorado on Jan. 1, 2014. Since then, 9 more states and the District of Columbia followed suit. Yet, most dispensaries look more like head shops than innovatively designed boutiques where you’d feel comfortable bringing your mom.

Sure, there are lots of exceptions. But, of the thousands of recreational dispensaries now open across the states where cannabis is legal, most pot shops aren’t anything to brag about.

Las Vegas dispensary, NuWu Cannabis Marketplace, is another exception and they may just be the most innovative cannabis dispensary in the country. Here’s why:

  1. Nuwu Cannabis is the largest (and arguably the hippest) pot shop in the world

When you visit this Las Vegas dispensary — or rather, this Las Vegas pot megastore — you’re greeted by impressive exposed wooden beams, state-of-the-art Apple-store-like sales kiosks, and stunning water walls. Boasting more than 16,000 square-feet, NuWu is easily the largest cannabis dispensary you’ll ever likely step foot in. (And, their selection of cannabis products is unbeatable!) 1. NuWu opened the first adult-use recreational drive-thru service in Nevada

On Nov. 10, 2017, NuWu Cannabis Marketplace became the first recreational dispensary in Nevada (and possibly the country) to offer drive-thru service, making buying weed as convenient as picking up a Big Mac.

  1. NuWu is open 24 hours a day

Excluding delivery services, there are only a handful of dispensaries in the country open 24/7. With the addition of the 24/7 drive-thru service, customers can visit NuWu any time of the night or day. (Note: the retail floor still closes at 2:00 am Friday & Saturday. 12:00 am Sunday-Thursday.)

  1. NuWu is the first cannabis business to sponsor a pro-sports team

Perhaps one of the most unique “firsts” in the cannabis industry, NuWu Cannabis is the first (and currently the only) cannabis business to sponsor a professional sports team. Since April 2018, NuWu Cannabis is a partner and sponsor of Las Vegas professional soccer team, The Lights, giving new meaning to the team’s #LightItUp hashtag.

  1. NuWu Cannabis is tribal-owned

While there are other tribes operating cannabis dispensaries, they’re still relatively rare, and NuWu appears to be charting new territory. NuWu is owned by the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe (LVPT), a small tribe of just 56 members. Some members of LVPT work at the dispensary, as well as members from other Native American tribes.

If you haven’t visited NuWu Cannabis on your last trip to Vegas, it’s well worth the trip. NuWu Cannabis Marketplace is conveniently located less than one mile from the famous Fremont Street Experience at 1235 Paiute Circle in Downtown Las Vegas.
