Utah House Committee Approves Measure to Legalize Hemp Oil for Medical Purposes

Utah’s House Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Committee has voted, 8 to 2, to approve House Bill 0105, a proposal to legalize hemp oil for medical purposes. The proposal wouldI'm told this is industrial hemp, which grows wild on the preserve. also permit universities and the state’s Department of Agriculture to grow industrial hemp for “the purpose of agricultural or academic research”.

If approved into law, the bill would allow those in the state to receive a waiver from Utah’s Department of Health to legally possess and use hemp oil extract, provided they receive a doctor’s recommendation, and have a “neurological condition”. The proposal was initially designed to help the tens of thousands of children and adult in the state who suffer from epilepsy.
