For Second Straight Year Super Bowl Winning Team is From a Legal Marijuana State

For the second year in a row in the National Football League (NFL), the winning Super Bowl team hails from a state that has legalized cannabis for all uses.

The New England Patriots have just won Super Bowl LI, their fifth Super Bowl victory in the past 16 years. The Patriots are from Massachusetts, which recently legalized the possession, use and personal cultivation of cannabis for everyone 21 and older.

The victors of last year’s Super Bowl, the Denver Broncos, are also from a state where cannabis is legal.

The Patriots victory not only marks the second year in a row that a team from a legal cannabis states has won the Super Bowl, it marks the third time in just four years, with the Seattle Seahawks having won in 2014.

For Fourth Straight Year, Super Bowl Features Team from a Legal Marijuana State

As the National Football League (NFL) continues its hard-line stance on marijuana – including punishing players for using it for medical purposes – it’s worth noting that this year’s Super Bowl will feature a team from a state where marijuana is legal for all purposes. This is the fourth straight year this has been the case.

This year’s Super Bowl – Super Bowl LI – features the Atlanta Falcons against the New England Patriots. The Patriots are from Massachusetts, a state where any of its players can legally possess, use, grow and soon purchase marijuana for medical or recreational purposes.
