After receiving immense public pressure to support medical cannabis legislation that would help suffering children and families across the state, including an announcement made by Senator Daylin Leach at a press conference on Monday where he and several families threatened to hold a sit-in at the governor’s office if he did not respond to their calls for medical cannabis by the end of this week, Governor Corbett has not only changed his position, but is now proposing legislation that would enact a medical cannabis pilot program in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Senator Threatens Sit-In At Governor’s Office Over Medical Cannabis Legalization

At a press conference on Monday, State Senator Daylin Leach, surrounded by the families of sick children seeking medical cannabis treatments, announced senator leach - pennlivehis intent to hold a sit-in at Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett’s office, unless the governor agrees to discuss legalizing medical cannabis by the end of this week.

“We are asking him to agree to a meeting by May 2nd, that’s this Friday,” said Senator Leach at the press conference. If the governor fails to schedule a meeting by the end of the week, the senator has firmly stated he plans to wait him out: “Me and the parents of these sick children, along with the children themselves, will gather in Governor Corbett’s office, and we will not voluntarily leave until a meeting is scheduled,” said Leach.
