The new law – which takes effect immediately – legalizes low-THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), high-CBD (cannabidiol) cannabis extracts for those with cancer, epilepsy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), as long as they receive a recommendation from a physician. A small number of dispensaries where patients can purchase cannabis-based medicines will also be allowed.

Florida Legislature Approves Medical Cannabis Measure, Sends it to Governor

Florida’s Senate gave final approval today to Senate Bill 1030, a measure to legalize medical cannabis extractsapproved, sending it to Governor Rick Scott, who stated yesterday that he will sign it into law once given the chance.

The new law legalizes cannabis extracts – such as oil, tinctures and lotions – for those who receive a recommendation from a physician. The extract must contain less than 0.8% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), and a handful of dispensaries will be authorized to distribute the medicine.

Florida House Approves Medical Cannabis Measure, Governor Announces His Support

Florida’s House of Representatives has voted 111 to 7 in favor of Senate Bill 1030, a measure to legalize medical cannabis extracts. The proposal was approved by the Senate on Thursday with a 36 to 3 vote.florida

After the super-majority vote in favor of the measure in the House, Florida Governor Rick Scott announced that if the measure gets to his desk, he’ll sign it into law, an announcement that surprised many given his staunch anti-cannabis opinions. Senate Bill 1030 was altered slightly in the House, so it will be up for one more Senate vote – expected Friday – before heading to Governor Scott.

Florida Senate Overwhelmingly Passes Medical Cannabis Bill

Florida’s Senate, with a 36 to 3 vote, has approved Senate Bill 1030, a measure to legalize medical cannabis extracts such as oil and tincture. A companion measure has been approvedflorida by the House Appropriations and Judiciary Committees.

If approved into law, Senate Bill 1030, and its companion measure House Bill 843, would allow those in the state who receive a recommendation from a physician to legally possess and use low-THC cannabis extracts for medical purposes. If the full House signs on to the change, which they’re expected to do, the measure will go before Governor Rick Scott, who can either sign the bill into law, allow it to become law without his signature, or veto it.

Cannabis Extract Legalization Bill Given OK by Florida House Committee

With bipartisan support Florida’s House Criminal Justice Subcommittee has voted in favor of House Bill 843, a proposalpurplebud to legalize cannabis extracts – such as cannabis oil – that’s low in THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and high in CBD (cannabidiol).

The proposal, which was introduced by Republican Representative Matt Gaetz, was passed with an 11 to 1 vote.
