Poll: 94% of U.S. Voters Support Legalizing Medical Marijuana, 60% Support Recreational Legalization

New polling shows that nearly every voter in the United States supports legalizing medical marijuana, and a strong majority supports legalizing recreational marijuana.

According to a new Quinnipiac University national poll, U.S. voters say 60% – 34% “that the use of marijuana should be made legal in the U.S.;” this is the highest level of support ever recorded for legalizing marijuana in a Quinnipiac poll.

Voters also support 94% – 5% “allowing adults to legally use marijuana for medical purposes if their doctor prescribes it,” also the highest level of support in any national poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University.

Voters oppose 73% – 21% government enforcement of federal laws against marijuana in states that have legalized medical or recreational marijuana. No group supports enforcement in states where marijuana is legal.

New Poll: 89% of American Voters Support Legalizing Medical Cannabis

medical-marijuana-630A drastic majority of voters in the United States support legalizing medical cannabis, while a majority is also in support of legalizing cannabis for all uses, according to a new Quinnipiac University Poll.

According to the poll, 89% of American voters believe that medical cannabis should be legal if prescribed by a doctor; only 9% oppose this move. Although the number is much lower, a solid 54% of American voters also support legalizing cannabis for all uses.

“The fact that a majority of American voters favors legalizing marijuana in general shows how attitudes about the drug have changed”, says Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Early Voting Underway for Ohio Legalization Initiative, New Poll Shows Support at 53%

A new Quinnipiac University poll has found that in the midst of early voting taking place in Ohioohiojoint, 53% of voters in the state are in support of legalizing recreational cannabis. The poll is good news for advocates of Issue 3, a proposal put forth by ResponsibleOhio which would legalize cannabis for everyone 21 and older and is on next month’s general election ballot.

According to the poll, which we received through press release, just 44% of voters in Ohio oppose legalizing cannabis.

Although the poll didn’t specifically mention Issue 3, the poll clearly demonstrates that the measure is in a good position to pass, with support for legalization nearly 10% higher than the opposition.

87% of Iowa Voters, 86% of Virginia Voters Support Legalizing Medical Cannabis

A newmarijuana3 Quinnipiac University poll has found that an overwhelming majority of voters in Virginia and Iowa support legalizing medical cannabis. The poll also found strong support in those states – and Colorado – for the legalization of recreational cannabis.

According to the poll released Tuesday, 87% of voters in Iowa support legalizing cannabis for medical purposes, with just 11% opposed. Support for legalizing recreational cannabis is split evenly, 47% to 47%, with the remaining 6% undecided.

Poll: More Than Six In Ten Connecticut Voters Say Legalize Cannabis

More thanusepicture six out of ten Connecticut voters favor legalizing marijuana use by adults, according to statewide polling conducted by Quinnipiac University.

Sixty-three percent of respondents said that they favored permitting adults to legally possess personal use quantities of cannabis. Only 34 percent of voters opposed this idea.

Poll: 88% of Voters in Florida Support Legalizing Medical Cannabis

A new Quinnipiac University poll released today has found thatflorida an overwhelming majority of Florida voters are in support of legalizing medical cannabis, and a majority also supports the legalization of recreational cannabis.

According to the poll, an astonishing 88% of Florida voters favor medical cannabis being legalized, with just 10% opposed to the move. The poll results come with the general election in November being just around the corner, where Florida voters will have the opportunity to vote on Amendment 2, an initiative to legalize the possession, use and state-licensed distribution and cultivation of medical cannabis.

New Quinnipiac University Poll: 83% of New York Voters Favor Legalizing Medical Cannabis

A Quinnipiac University poll released today has found that a vast majority of New York voters favor the legalization of medical cannabis. In all,normlbud 83% were found to be in support of the move, with just 15% opposed. A majority of New York voters – 51% to 44% – are also in support of legalizing recreational cannabis.

Medical cannabis legalization is favored by all political parties in New York, including 74% of Republican.

New Poll: 84% of Virginia Voters Favor Legalizing Medical Cannabis

A new Quinnipiac University poll has found that a strong majority of voters in Virginia support the legalization of cannabis for medical purposes.medcan

According to the poll, 84% of Virginia voters back the legalization of medical cannabis, with just 13% opposed.

Support for medical cannabis was strong among all political parties and age groups, with 75% of Republicans and 81% of those 65 and older favoring the move towards legalization. Support among Democrats was the highest, with 92% supporting medical cannabis legalization to just 6% opposed.

81% in Iowa Support Legalizing Medical Cannabis, New Poll Finds

A Quinnipiac University poll released today has found that an overwhelming majority of those in Iowa support legalizing medical cannabisiowabud, 81% to 17%, including 68% of all age groups and political parties.

According to the poll, Democrats support legalizing cannabis for medical purposes at a rate of 89% to 10% Independents support is at 82% to 15%. Republican support was at 68%, compared to 29% who are opposed.
