Jeb BushIn a move that will likely come as a surprise to many, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, brother of former President George W. Bush, has announced that he supports decriminalizing cannabis.

“It’s one thing to say we should have decriminalization of marijuana. I support that,” Bush said in an interview on WBZ NewsRadio. This marks the first time the former Florida Governor has endorsed a move to end incarceration for cannabis.

Study: Sleep-Disturbed Patients Find Relief from Cannabis Use

sleepSleep-disturbed patients find relief from consuming cannabis, according to a new study published in the journal Addictive Behaviours, and published online by the National Institute of Health.

For the study, researchers at the University of California, the National Center for PTSD and John Hopkins University examined 163 adults who were recruited after purchasing medical cannabis for a physical or mental health condition at a legal dispensary in California. They provided self-report of “(a) whether cannabis use was intended to help with sleep problems (e.g. insomnia, nightmares), (b) sleep quality (PSQI), (c) cannabis use (including preferred type), and (d) symptoms of DSM-5 cannabis dependence.”

Comprehensive Study Finds Cannabis May Treat Various Diseases, Particularly Headaches

flower-power-2A new comprehensive meta-study published by the journal Headache, and published online by the National Institute of Health, has found that cannabis may be effective at treating a variety of diseases, particularly chronic pain disorders such as headaches.

“The use of cannabis, or marijuana, for medicinal purposes is deeply rooted though history, dating back to ancient times”, claims the study’s abstract. “It once held a prominent position in the history of medicine, recommended by many eminent physicians for numerous diseases, particularly headache and migraine. Through the decades, this plant has taken a fascinating journey from a legal and frequently prescribed status to illegal, driven by political and social factors rather than by science. However, with an abundance of growing support for its multitude of medicinal uses, the misguided stigma of cannabis is fading, and there has been a dramatic push for legalizing medicinal cannabis and research.”
