Colorado Governor Who Called Cannabis Legalization ‘Reckless’ No Longer Opposes it

In 2012, Colorado voters gave approval to Amendment 64, legalizing recreational cannabis for everyone 21 and older. Among the law’s most vocal and prominent opponents was the state’s Governor, John Hickenlooper, who called the decision by voters “reckless”. At the time, Hickenlooper said he would “wave a magic wand” to reverse the decision, if he could. Now, over three and a half years later, the governor has changed his tune.

During a recent discussion at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, Hickenlooper said; “If I had that magic wand now, I don’t know if I would wave it… It’s beginning to look like it might work.”
