Medical Cannabis DispensariesMichigan’s full legislature has given approval to a package of bills that would establish a legal framework for medical cannabis dispensaries, supplied by licensed cultivation centers. The proposals would also legalize medical cannabis edibles, to be sold by dispensaries.

Although medical cannabis has been legal in Michigan for years, the passage of the bills is vital due to a court ruling which found that dispensaries aren’t legal under the current law. The new set of laws would establish a very specific regulatory system for medical cannabis. For example, the bills would create a five-member medical cannabis licensing board, with members appointed by the governor. This board, as well as the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, would provide oversight of medical cannabis facilities

Hawaii Joint Committee Passes Bill to Legalize Medical Cannabis Dispensaries

A hawaiijoint Senate/House conference committee in Hawaii has given approval to a modified version of House Bill 321, which would legalize the distribution of medical cannabis through state-sanctioned dispensaries. The bill will now go to the Senate, where it’s already passed 23 to 2, and to the House of Representatives. Its passage in both chambers will send it to Governor David Ige for consideration.

House Bill 321 would authorize 16 dispensaries and 16 production centers throughout the state, which would supply medical cannabis to qualified patients.

Hawaii Senate Votes to Legalizes Medical Cannabis Dispensaries

With a 23 to 2 votehawaii-maui-4, Hawaii’s full Senate has passed House Bill 321, a proposal to legalize medical cannabis dispensaries. The Bill has already passed the full House of Representatives, but will be sent back for another vote for concurrence purposes before being sent to the governor.

If passed into law, the measure would legalize the state-licensed cultivation, production and distribution of cannabis to qualified patients who’ve received a recommendation from a physician The bill mandates that each county has at least one operating dispensary, with a minimum of 21 throughout the state.

Hawaii: Two Senate Committees Approve Bill to Legalize Medical Cannabis Dispensaries

Twohawaii different Senate committees in Hawaii approved House Bill 321 this week, a proposal to legalize the distribution of medical cannabis through state-licensed dispensaries. The proposal has already been approved by the state’s House, as well as the Senate Public Safety Committee.

On Wednesday, Hawaii’s Senate Ways and Means Committee voted 8 to 2 to approve House Bill 321. The same day, it was passed with a 3 to 1 vote in the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Labor. The proposal will now be up for a full Senate vote, where its passage will send it back to the House for concurrence.

Oregon Proposal to Prohibit Cities from Banning Dispensaries Approved Unanimously Through Senate

A bill that would allow Oregon cities and counties to regulate medical cannabis dispensaries, while prohibiting them from placing an all-out ban, has been approved unanimously through the Senate.oregon Senate Bill 1531 now heads to the House of Representatives, where its passage will send it to the governor.

Senate Bill 1531 would allow city and county governments to regulate certain aspects of medical cannabis dispensaries – which were legalized last year – such as hours of operation and location. However, cities would be prohibited from banning dispensaries entirely, even for short periods (such as with a moratorium).

Hawaii Lawmakers to Consider Legalizing Medical Cannabis Dispensaries

During the opening ceremony of the Hawaii Legislature earlier this week, the state’s Speaker of the House Joe Souki announced that he’s in support of legalizing medical cannabis dispensaries, stating that medical-cannabisthe lack of locations for patients to buy cannabis is a “gap in the law”, and that the matter is a humanitarian issue.

Currently in Hawaii it’s legal for qualified patients to possess and use cannabis, as well as cultivate up to 7 plants; dispensaries are illegal, however, leaving patients who don’t grow their own to rely on the black-market for their medicine.

Michigan Lawmakers Unanimously Approve Proposal to Legalize Medical Cannabis Dispensaries

Michigan’s House Judiciary Committee has unanimously approved a proposal to legalize medical cannabis dispensaries, as well as medical cannabis ediblescannajar; it not heads to the full House for consideration, before going to the Senate.

Under the measure – House Bill 4271 – localities would be allowed to choose whether or not they want medical cannabis dispensaries in their communities. Under current Michigan law medical cannabis is legal, though dispensaries are not, leading to a February ruling by the Michigan Supreme Court that forced shut all dispensaries that were opened.

Majority in Massachusetts Support Having a Medical Cannabis Dispensary in Their Community

New polling conducted by the Western New England University Polling Institute has found that 61% of adults in Massachusetts are in support of having a medical cannabis dispensary in their community, with only 30% opposed to the idea. massachusetts

The poll also found that, a year after medical cannabis was legalized in the state, support for medical cannabis has risen substantially. In 2012 voters approved medical cannabis legalization with 63% of the vote; this new poll has found that 74% in the state are in support of medical cannabis, with only 30% opposed.

Obama Administration Drops Charges on California Landlords Renting to Medical Cannabis Dispensaries

Earlier this week, theĀ  U.S. Attorney’s office made an uncharacteristically reasonable move, and dropped all charges against several California landlords renting to dispensaries. As property forfeiture has remained a major risk of renting calidispensaryto dispensaries (and other medical marijuana related establishments), landlords in medical cannabis-permitting states are no doubt breathing a collective sign of relief, hoping this will set precedent across the nation.
