Fewer Cannabis Packages Seized in Mail Since Start of Legal Sales in Colorado and Washington

Despite claims from prohibitionists that legalized cannabis sales in Washington and Colorado will lead to increased cannabis being transferred through the U.S. mail system, newly released data actually shows the opposite to be true.

According to data provided by theĀ U.S. Postal Inspection Service, fiscal year 2014 saw a 12% decrease in the number of packages seized by inspectors that were found to have cannabis in them. There was also a 12% drop in the overall weight of the cannabis seized.

Fiscal year 2014 began on October 1st 2013, and ended on September 30th, 2014.
