The proposal, which was approved 24 to 0 in the Senate, and 38 to 13 in the House of Representatives, legalizes the distribution of medical cannabis through state-licensed dispensaries, which will be supplied by licensed cultivation centers.

Hawaii Governor Plans to Sign Bill Legalizing Medical Cannabis Dispensaries

hawaiiHawaii Governor David Ige plans to sign House Bill 321 into law, legalizing medical cannabis dispensaries throughout the state, according to a spokeswoman for the governor.

The proposal, which was approved 24 to 0 in the Senate, and 38 to 13 in the House of Representatives, will legalize the distribution of medical cannabis through state-licensed dispensaries, which will be supplied by licensed cultivation centers. In total, the bill authorizes 16 dispensaries (and 16 production centers) throughout the state. Qualified patients will be able to purchase their medicine from any of these 16 outlets, giving them their first means of safe access to medical cannabis since it was legalized by lawmakers in 2000.

Hawaii Joint Committee Passes Bill to Legalize Medical Cannabis Dispensaries

A hawaiijoint Senate/House conference committee in Hawaii has given approval to a modified version of House Bill 321, which would legalize the distribution of medical cannabis through state-sanctioned dispensaries. The bill will now go to the Senate, where it’s already passed 23 to 2, and to the House of Representatives. Its passage in both chambers will send it to Governor David Ige for consideration.

House Bill 321 would authorize 16 dispensaries and 16 production centers throughout the state, which would supply medical cannabis to qualified patients.

Twohawaii different Senate committees in Hawaii approved House Bill 321 this week, a proposal to legalize the distribution of medical cannabis through state-licensed dispensaries. The proposal has already been approved by the state’s House, as well as the Senate Public Safety Committee.

On Wednesday, Hawaii’s Senate Ways and Means Committee voted 8 to 2 to approve House Bill 321. The same day, it was passed with a 3 to 1 vote in the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Labor. The proposal will now be up for a full Senate vote, where its passage will send it back to the House for concurrence.

Six Cannabis Bills Scheduled for Public Hearing Saturday in Hawaii

Hawaii’shawaii-maui-4 House Committee on Health and Committee on Judiciary will be holding a joint public hearing this Saturday, February 7th at 10AM (conference room 329 at the state capitol, 415 South Beretania Street). During the hearing, six different cannabis-related proposals will be discussed, including one to legalize medical cannabis dispensaries and one to prohibit employers from firing medical cannabis patients for testing positive for cannabis in a drug test.

House Bill 321 would legalize medical cannabis safe access points and would establish a system for dispensaries and production centers. If approved, the proposal would mark the first time Hawaii has allowed dispensaries despite the fact that medical cannabis has been legal in the state since 2000.
