Medical Cannabis Legalization Bill Signed Into Law by Maryland Governor

Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley has signed a proposal into law which explicitly legalizes medical cannabis; the measure, House Bill 1321medical-marijuana-symbol, will take effect on July 1st.

Under the new law, the possession and use of medical cannabis will be legal those with a qualifying condition such as cancer or chronic pain who receive a recommendation from a physician. The bill will establish a minimum of 94 dispensaries throughout the state to distribute cannabis to patients, and will authorize state-licensed cultivation centers.

Maryland Senate Passes Medical Cannabis Proposal

In an overwhelming 45 to 1 vote, Maryland’s Senate has approved an amended version of House Bill 1321, a proposal to explicitly legalize medical cannabismedicalmaryland, including medical cannabis dispensaries. The measure has already passed the state’s House of Representatives.

If approved into law, House Bill 1321 would legalize the possession and use of cannabis for medical purposes for those with a qualifying condition (cancer, chronic pain, etc.) who receive a recommendation from a physician. State-licensed cultivators and dispensaries would also be legalized.

Maryland Senate Committee Approves Medical Cannabis Legalization Proposal

Maryland’s Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee gave approval today to House Bill 1321, ammjplant proposal to legalize medical cannabis. The measure was passed by the state’s House of Representatives last week in an 127 to 9 vote.

If approved into law, House Bill 1321 would legalize medical cannabis for those with a qualifying condition such as cancer, post traumatic stress disorder and chronic pain, and would establish as many as 100 dispensaries throughout the state to distribute the medicine.

Maryland House Gives Initial OK to Measure Legalizing Medical Cannabis

Maryland’s House of Representatives has given initial approval to House Bill 1321, amaryland measure to legalize cannabis for medical purposes. The proposal – which has over 60 sponsors – is expected to receive a final vote in the House this Monday.

If approved into law, House Bill 1321 would legalize medical cannabis for those with a qualifying condition (such as cancer, PTSD or chronic pain). State-licensed cannabis cultivation and distribution centers would be authorized to provide patients with safe access to their medicine.

Maryland Proposal to Legalize Medical Cannabis Garners 61 Sponsors, Public Hearing Held

Advocates of medical cannabis gave tearful testimonies on Friday before the Maryland_MMJ-300x225Maryland House Health and Government Operations Committee, in an effort to encourage lawmakers to support House Bill 1321.

The measure, sponsored by 61 Delegates (43% of Maryland’s entire House), would legalize medical cannabis for patients suffering from ailments including cancer, PTSD, seizures and chronic pain.
