Utah Governor Signs Medical Cannabis Bill Into Law

Utah Governor Gary Herbert has signed House Bill 105, a measure to legalize medical cacannasymbolnnabis extracts.

“Cannabis oils show promise of offering some relief to Utahns suffering from seizures and epilepsy and we should do all we can to help them”, the governor said in a statement released yesterday.

Once the proposal takes effect (July 1st), House Bill 105 will allow those in the state who receive a recommendation from a neurologist to legally possess and use cannabis extract that’s low in THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and high in CBD (cannabidiol). First they must receive a waiver from Utah’s Department of Health.

Utah Legislature Gives Final Approval to Medical Cannabis Bill, Heads to Governor

Utah’s House of Representatives gave final approval today to House Bill 105, a measure to legalize medical cannabis extracts. The proposal has already been approved procon.orgthrough the state’s Senate with a unanimous vote; it now heads to Governor Gary Herbert, who’s in support of the measure.

If approved into law, House Bill 105 would allow those in the state who receive a recommendation from a neurologist to legally possess and use cannabis extract that’s low in THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), if they receive a waiver from Utah’s Department of Health.

Utah Medical Cannabis Bill Passes Senate Unanimously, Expected to Be Signed by Governor

Utah’s full Senate gave unanimous approval this evening to House Bill 105, a measure to legalize cannabis extracts for medical purposes.mmjlogo

The measure, which was approved by the House of Representatives recently with a 62 to 11 vote, will go back to the House for one final vote, before heading to the governor for consideration.

“The concept of having cannabis oil as a medication to help with the treatment of seizures and other health issues is one that I support,” Governor Gary Herbert said today, indicating that he’ll sign the proposal if sent to him.
