Colorado Initiative Would Prevent Cannabis Consumers From Being Denied Concealed Weapon Permits

A group gunrightscalling itself the Colorado Campaign for Equal Gun Rights has announced that it’s attempting to put an initiative to a vote of the people in 2016 aimed at prohibiting individuals from being denied concealed weapon permits simply because they’re a cannabis consumer or a registered medical cannabis patient.

“It’s just ridiculous,” says Edgar Antillon, one of the campaign’s organizers. “Somebody can get extremely drunk — Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and all week if they want — and they can still get a concealed carry permit.”

Federal Bill Introduced To Restore Second Amendment Rights To Medical Cannabis Patients

Last Friday, Colorado Congressman Jared Polis (D) introduced HR 3483, Protecting Individual Liberties and States’ Rights Act.patientsgunrights The legislation was introduced in the wake of a federal memo to licensed gun dealers circulated nationwide last year warning them not to sell guns or ammunition to customers who legally use medical cannabis with their physician’s recommendation, many of whom pay annual fees to be in state-run registries and receive state-issued identification cards.
