Colorado: Over a Quarter Billion Dollars in Legal Cannabis Sold in First 3 Months of 2016

cannabismoneyThere was over $270 million in legal cannabis sold in Colorado in the first three months of the year, according to the state’s Department of Revenue. At this rate, there will be roughly $1.1 billion sold throughout 2016, an $100 million increase from 2015, and a $400 million increase from 2014.

In March, the most recent month where sales data is available, there was $55 million in recreational cannabis sold, and $33 million in medical cannabis sold. This marks a 30% increase from March of last year.

Colorado: Nearly $900 Million in Legal Cannabis Sold in First 11 Months of 2015

moneyLegal cannabis has become a huge market in Colorado, with nearly $900 million purchased between January and November of last year, according to the state’s Department of Revenue; final year-end sales data won’t be released until mid-February.

In total, there was $894,865,100 worth of legal cannabis purchased in Colorado in the first 11 months of 2015, resulting in over $100 million in taxes for the state. By comparison, there was $699,198,805 in cannabis sold during all of 2014, resulting in roughly $75 million in new state taxes.

Colorado: Over $100 Million in Legal Cannabis Sold in August, Over $13 Million in Taxes Garnered

state-flag-coloradoFor the first time, there was over $100 million in legal cannabis sold in just one month in Colorado, with $100.6 million sold in August.

In August, there was $59.2 million in recreational cannabis sold, and $41.4 million in medical cannabis sold, according to numbers released by the Colorado Department of Revenue.

These sales resulted in the state garnering over $13 million in taxes and fees; $11.2 million from recreational cannabis and $2 million from medical cannabis.

Colorado Garnered Over $60 Million in Taxes and Fees from Legal Cannabis in First Half of 2015

coloradoNew data released by Colorado’s Department of Revenue shows that legal cannabis is being purchased in the state at double the rate it was last year.

In total, the state has garnered $60.6 million in taxes and fees from legal cannabis between January and June of this year, double the roughly $29 million garnered during the same period last year. These numbers include taxes and fees garnered from both recreational and medical cannabis.

Colorado: $50.1 Million in Legal Recreational Cannabis Sold in June, a New Record

COSealColorThere was $50.1 million in legal recreational cannabis sold in June in Colorado, an over $7.5 million increase from May, and a record for the state, according to the state’s Department of Revenue.

In addition to $50.1 million in recreational cannabis sales, there was $35.2 million in medical cannabis sold, a high for the year. In total, recreational cannabis sales brought in $9 million in taxes and fees for the state, with an additional $1.85 million coming from medical cannabis taxes and fees.

Colorado: $75 Million in Legal Cannabis Sold in May

cannabismoneyThere was $75 million in legal cannabis sold in Colorado in May, resulting in millions of dollars worth of taxes for the state.

In the month of May, $42.5 million in recreational cannabis was purchased, according to data released by the state’s Department of Revenue. There was an additional $32.4 million in medical cannabis sold during the same month, bringing the total amount of cannabis sold to just under $75 million.

Colorado Recreational Cannabis Sales Reach Record High in January, $36.4 Million Sold

The newest figures released by Colorado’s Department of Revenue shows that January was Colorado’s biggest month yet in regards to the amount ofColorados-Recreational recreational cannabis sold.

In total, there was $36.4 million worth of recreational cannabis purchased in January, resulting in over $3.6 million in excise taxes, which is being used primarily to increase the state’s public school funding.

“This is really what we expected and hope to see: a shift in the underground market to a regulated market,” says Mason Tvert, Communications Director for the Marijuana Policy Project, which spearheaded Colorado’s successful legalization campaign. “It’s clearly generating significant revenue for the state.”

Colorado: $64 Million in Legal Cannabis Sold in September

There was $31.6 millioncolo in legal recreational cannabis sold in the State of Colorado in September, according to new numbers released by the state’s Department of Revenue. In the same month, medical cannabis sales reached $32.4 million.

In total, the state brought in over $7 million in taxes from cannabis sales in September, bringing the total for the year to over $50 million.
