In 6 Months, Alaska Voters Will Have the Opportunity to Legalize Recreational Cannabis

A citizen’s initiative to legalize recreational cannabis through a constitutional amendment will be voted on this November in Alaska, giving voters the opportunityAlaska to make their state the third in the U.S. to proclaim that cannabis possession and consumption should be a legal activity.

The proposed initiative – which is being supported by the Marijuana Policy Project – would legalize the possession of up to an ounce of cannabis and the private cultivation of up to 6 plants. State-licensed cannabis retail outlets would also be authorized, with regulations being handled by the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.
