Study: 49% of Those Visiting Colorado Last Year Had Their Decision Influenced by Cannabis Being Legal
A new study commissioned by the Colorado Tourism Office has found that almost half of those visiting Colorado from another state last year had their decision to choose Colorado as a travel destination influenced by the fact that cannabis is legal.
For the study, Strategic Marketing and Research Insights conducted a 33-question survey on 3,254 tourists from key markets such as Chicago, Dallas and San Diego, and found that 49% of those traveling to Colorado were motivated to go due to cannabis’ legal status. 22% of those surveyed said that cannabis being legal was “extremely influential” in their decision to visit the state.
According to the Colorado Department of Revenue, there is over $100 million in legal cannabis being sold each month.
