Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes has vowed to crack down on cannabis businesses he calls illegal under state law, while planning to ask the the state’s legislature to approve a pilot program legalizing such businesses.

“I’m not free to say all of the enforcement steps that are being engineered now. But Seattle is going to crack down,” says Holmes.

Specifically, Holmes is referring to cannabis delivery services, which advertise openly in local newspapers such as The Stranger, despite being illegal under state law.

“If they are licensed and regulated, delivery services can be a public safety enhancement. But today these unlicensed delivery services, are plainly and simply felony operations,” said Holmes.

Despite this forthcoming crackdown, Holmes says he will ask the state’s legislature to  approve a pilot program for legal cannabis delivery services in Seattle.

Everytime I read an article about Washington State of late, it’s usually regarding some new punitive action or felony cannabis law brought against State citizens by Washington politicians. It’s their new chew-toy in Olympia. This isn’t what Washington voters passed in 2012 The November elections are coming. Senator Anne Rivers (R) La Center, WA. is the first one that needs a new job outside of Olympia.
