Patients Allowed to Bring Medical Cannabis to the 2018 Fifa World Cup

The Eurasian Economic Union is allowing those attending the upcoming 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia to bring cannabis into the stadium, so long as they can provide documentation showing they have it for medical use.

The 2018 Fifa World Cup will take place this year  from June 14 to July 15 in 11 cities located throughout Russia, including Moscow. According to The Moscow Times, medical cannabis patients with proper documentation will be allowed to bring their medicine to the game. They note that there will be police located throughout the stadium verifying medical document.

“Security officers will monitor the enforcement of rules for carrying prescription drugs to stadium grounds at checkpoints,” says the Eurasian Economic Union, which is also allowing attendees to bring cocaine and heroin if it’s for medical use.

The 2018 Fifa World Cup is the first World Cup held in Europe since Germany hosted in 2006, and its the first time in World Cup history that it’s been held in Russia.
