Marijuana Legalization Measure Introduced in Pennsylvania
Recently Senator Daylin Leach introduced Senate Bill 528, titled the Regulate Marijuana Act. If passed, the measure would legalize the possession, cultivation, transportation and retail sale of marijuana, to adults 21 and older. Adults would be authorized to grow up to six plants, three of which could be mature. In addition, the measure would make it legal for adults to give away up to one ounce to other adults.
The bill would direct the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board to license and regulate the sale of marijuana through retail outlets, and directs the General Assembly to enact an excise tax on marijuana that’s either sold or transferred.
Senate Bill 528 has been referred to the Senate Law and Justice Committee.
