Malia Obama Marijuana Drama: Malia Mocks the Outrage
By Duke London, Marijuana.com
Malia Obama pushing the envelope at music festivals is officially a recurring topic. As the national attention was still fixed on leaked footage of the eldest First Daughter puffing a joint at Chicago’s Lollapalooza, the 18-year old slipped away to Philadelphia for Made In America Fest this Labor Day Weekend.
Malia went to the fifth annual Philly music festival rocking a t-shirt emblazoned with the phrase “SMOKING KILLS” in what seemed like hand-drawn typography. The shirt is clearly a playful jab at the numerous out-of-touch pundits who blasted the alleged marijuana use by a Harvard-bound young woman attending a concert as if they had never experienced what we humans refer to as “Summer.”
It seems Malia isn’t alone among her peers, as the majority of incoming Harvard freshmen also believe marijuana should be legalized (we’re going out on a limb and assuming Malia supports the movement). The prestigious Ivy League university polls roughly 70% of incoming first-year students on a range of social and political topics for an annual look at its freshman class and their view on the world.
A slight majority—51 percent—of freshman respondents said they were in favor of legalizing marijuana, compared to 17 percent who said such legalization would be unfavorable.
