Indiana: Legislation to Legalize CBD Oil Approved by House Committee

A House committee in Indiana has voted to approve a bill that legalizes cannabdiol (CBD) oil.

The vote on House Bill 1214 comes just a couple days after a Senate committee approved a similar measureHouse Bill 1214 was given approval by the House Committee on Courts and Criminal Code in a unanimous 9 to 0 vote (with four committee members absent).

The approved bill “Specifies that the definition of “industrial hemp” includes the resins of the Cannabis sativa plant. Defines “CBD oil” as a product that contains: (1) not more than 0.3% THC; (2) at least 5% cannabidiol; and (3) no other controlled substances. Legalizes CBD oil”, and “Repeals superseded provisions relating to cannabidiol registration.”

The proposal was filed by Representative William Friend (R) along with a bipartisan group of three other lawmakers.
