Cannabis Possession, Cultivation Becomes Legal in Oregon Tomorrow
Beginning tomorrow, July 1st, the possession and personal cultivation of cannabis will be legal in Oregon, thanks to last year’s passage of Measure 91.
Under the new law, which is one of the most progressive in the world, everyone 21 and older will be allowed to possess up to an ounce of cannabis in public, or up to eight ounces (half a pound) at a private residence. Those 21+ will also be authorized to cultivate up to four plants for personal use.
Measure 91 also legalizes cannabis retail outlets, which are expected to open sometime next year. However, a legislative committee recently have unanimous approval to a measure that would allow currently operating dispensaries to begin selling recreational cannabis this October.
According to a study conducted by ECONorthwest, cannabis is expected to retail for around $140 an ounce once outlets are open, putting prices far lower than they are in Colorado and Washington.

BIG mistake if Oregon allows it’s Rec. weed to be sold out of what are supposed to be medical marijuana dispensaries. I’d look carefully at whose behind this effort and their motives. Far too many American medical marijuana patients have lost access to the successful way they formerly acquired their medicine to Rec. weed stores
