Can Niacin Flush Help You Pass a Drug Test?

We have all been there, the dreaded drug test!

There are several reasons for drug tests in the workplace. This is to determine whether employees are using drugs such as Marijuana or are under the influence of drugs while on the job.  If drugs are found in an employee’s system, it could have severe consequences for that employee.

It is common knowledge that drug tests exist and that drug tests are used to determine your system’s level of drugs.

Even though it is common knowledge, people have always attempted to game the system and make it look as though they have passed the test. Unfortunately, there is no simple way to pass a surprise drug test if you have recently indulged. Still, specific methods have some efficacy and work when used over a certain period.

One such method is known as the Niacin flush.

What Is Niacin?

Niacin is a water-soluble B vitamin that has been shown to have several health benefits. The vitamin is used to prevent and control high cholesterol, treat niacin deficiency, and prevent the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.  Because Niacin is found in foods, the B vitamin is not considered to be an essential nutrient.

However, Niacin must be consumed through diet since the body does not produce it. This B-complex vitamin supports digestion, metabolism, and nervous system function.  It’s also known to support healthy skin, hair, and eyes, and as a result, it’s often included as a common ingredient in many multivitamin supplements.

Niacin is also known as nicotinic acid and vitamin B3 and is found naturally in foods like fish, poultry, leafy greens, and mushrooms.

What Is A Niacin Flush?

The fat cells of your body are capable of storing THC and different drug metabolites. The time needed to flush weed using Niacin is slightly longer than some other detox methods, but it has been shown to work.

Through various forms of excretion, such as sweating and urination, your body gradually releases these metabolites during detoxification.  As a result of taking Niacin, fats are broken down more rapidly, thereby releasing THC and other drugs.   Niacin helps your system eliminate drugs by opening blood vessels in fat tissues.

Niacin should not be taken more than 2 grams a day when you need to use it to prepare for a drug test.

If you are considering using Niacin to detox your body before a drug test, you should consider the following points:

  • Refrain from using drugs for three or four days.
  • Start taking 500mg of Niacin first thing in the morning, along with two glasses of water.
  • Avoid foods that are high in fat, and urinate as often as is comfortable to do so.
  • You should not take more than 500mg every six hours, and do not consume it more frequently.
  • Get enough electrolytes and fluids in your system.
  • It’s best not to drink too much water.
  • Two pills should be taken on test day, with a six-hour gap between them.
  • Based on when your test is scheduled to occur, you may need to get up reasonably early to finish the detox in time.

The niacin flush method has proved useful for some people who want to eliminate traces of drugs from their bodies.

What Are The Side Effects Of Niacin Flush?

Niacin is usually very well tolerated but can cause a number of side effects in certain people.

Itchiness and tingling are the most common Niacin side effects. Less commonly, people may also experience stomach upset, skin color changes, and yellowing of the skin or eyes. In this particular case, the skin’s actual flushing is the main side effect; however, there are other issues that you should be aware of.

Burning, itching, or reddening sensations tend to accompany these flushes. Most commonly, it occurs in the face, but it can also appear in the neck, upper body, and upper back. After an hour or so, the flush usually goes away.

The niacin flush doesn’t usually cause any side effects, although some may experience headaches, dizziness, or a sudden drop in blood pressure.

What Are Other Ways To Pass A Drug Test?

While taking Niacin has become a popular method to aid in removing drugs from your system, there are other ways you can try.

However, they are not 100% guaranteed to help you pass your test.

Urinary Sample Dilution

You can do it either by directly putting large amounts of water into the urine sample or drinking as much water as possible before the drug test.  The presence of diluted urine would diminish visible drug levels, increasing the chances of obtaining a drug-free result. While this may sound like a great idea, a diluted sample can often be detected by laboratories, so you would need to repeat the test.

Avoid Excessive Exercise

If you smoke a lot of marijuana, the THC levels are likely to spike in a drug test if you exercise right before the test since exercise works out the toxins.  Although it is not advisable to stop all exercising, you should probably avoid strenuous exercise before your drug test day.

Types Of Drug Tests

Urine

An individual’s urine can be tested to determine whether drug metabolites are present or not.   During the process of metabolizing drugs, the body retains residues that are broken down afterward, even after the drug’s effects have worn off.   The presence of a positive urine test does not automatically indicate a person was affected by drugs when the test was performed.

More accurately, it detects and measures the levels of drug use within the previous few days.

Breath

This is most commonly used for detecting alcohol rather than other forms of drugs.

Blood

Testing blood for alcohol and other drugs measures their concentration at the time of testing.  A person’s blood sample provides an accurate indication of the amount of physiologically active drugs they take when the sample is taken.   Even though blood samples provide a better indication of current consumption than urine samples, there is little published data to prove that blood levels correlate with impairment similar to that established for alcohol.

Hair

A hair sample provides a more comprehensive window going back as much as 90 days.  As with urine tests, hair tests can show only one-time use of a specific drug, rather than evidence of current impairment.  Hair testing requires less intrusive testing than other drug tests, so privacy concerns are minimized.

Oral Fluids

You can also detect alcohol and drugs in saliva collected from the mouth.

Detecting specific substances, such as alcohol, cocaine, and amphetamines/methamphetamines may be better with oral fluids, which can be collected by swabs of the inner cheek, which is the most common collection method.  You might use this method to identify current and impaired drug use since oral fluids do not retain drugs the way urine does.

Summary

As a great source of Vitamin B3, Niacin has traditionally been used for medical conditions such as hyperlipidemia and a vitamin B3 deficiency. However, in recent years, it has begun to be commonly utilized as a form of drug testing detox.

People consider it a fast and effective way to eliminate drugs from the body to conceal drug use before a test.
