Campaign to Legalize Cannabis in Oregon Launches First Commercial

A campaign to legalize recreational cannabis in the State of Oregon – which recently submitted 145,000 signatures to put their initiative on the ballot this November, well more than the 87,000 required – has launched its first official commercial.

The commercial, which can be seen below, features Margie Harris, who spent 36 years teaching in various school districts around the state. She argues that cannabis prohibition hasn’t stopped kids from obtaining and consuming cannabis, and that it would be better controlled if it was legalized, regulated and taxed.

Peter Zuckerman, a campaign spokesman for New Approach Oregon, says the ad is only appearing on the internet at the moment, but that the group may run it as a TV ad in the near future.
