Bill Gates Voted to Legalize Cannabis

Microsoft founder and philanthropist Bill Gates announced in an interview released today that he voted to approve a 2012 initiative to legalize cannabis in his home state of WashingtonBill Gates at Davos. Gates believes that because of cannabis legalization, criminal organizations “are going to make a lot less money, and some of the perverse things about the illegal drug trade will be avoided.”

Gates, who is the wealthiest man in America, and one of the wealthiest men in the world, says that he hopes some questions regarding legalization will be answered with this “experiment”, asking; “Can they keep it out of minors’ hands? Will it reduce alcohol consumption? Are there some people who use it at levels you might think of as inappropriate? Will drug gangs make less money?” He notes that, thus far, he’s been impressed with the implementation of the new law, which will have recreational cannabis retail outlets up and running, likely by the summer.

Although he’s indicated in previous interviews in the 90s that he has, Gates refused to answer the question of whether or not he’s smoked cannabis.
