Average Price of Legal Cannabis Drops by Over Half in Washington State

The price of legal recreational cannabis has dropped significantly in recent months in Washington, according to new data released by the state’s Liquor Control Board.
According to the Board, the average price of recreational cannabis throughout the state is $12 a gram. When sales began in July, average prices were near $30 a gram.
Although the data doesn’t account for the quality of the cannabis or take bulk pricing into consideration, it shows a clear trend towards cheaper cannabis prices.
“The agency was charged with creating a recreational system competitive with the gray and illicit markets,” says Brian Smith, a spokeperson for the Liquor Control Board.
“We thought if we could get it to 12 dollars a gram, we would be competitive, and we got there in a matter of months.”

The point is mute if they are taking the keif off the buds and selling it seperately. Doubling their money. Thanks but I will keep getting it privately, its still cheaper even after they dropped it by half. And you neglect to mention that the prices vary by strain and potencey.

It will be interesting to see how the Indian Tribes, living on Tribal land and preparing to enter the recreational and medical marijuana react to this. Especially if prices continue to drop significantly. Will this slow the Tribes entry into a major metropolitan market place like Seattle (and other cities surrounding Puget Sound), or, will it have little no affect at all ? We’ll have to wait and see.

Until they drop prices down to street price which is almost the amount; there won’t be huge profit off of rec weed like there is in Colorado. Yeah there Is more of a variety but even the weed man has top shelf. Bring the tax down and more profit will show for it.
