Pennsylvania Nurses Association Comes Out in Support of Medical Cannabis
In a move which will be a boost to House Bill 1181, the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association has come out in support of further research for medical cannabis, claiming that “Marijuana may be an important therapeutic adjunct in hard-to-manage illnesses and for persistent symptoms.”
“It is the position of PSNA that medical marijuana is worthy of further rigorous clinical testing,” states the group in an official statement, “Despite a persistent federal ban on marijuana, claims regarding its efficacy for a host of illnesses and symptoms have soared. As a result, more than a quarter of the states in the nation have adopted laws to legalize the drug for medicinal purposes despite the continued federal ban”, they continue, “Marijuana may be an important therapeutic adjunct in hard-to-manage illnesses and for persistent symptoms.”
If House Bill 1181 – which currently sits in the House Health Committee – were to becomes law, authorized patients, or their caregiver, would be able to possess up to 6 ounces of cannabis legally, and cultivate up to 6 plants.
