Washington Legislature Overrides Governor’s Veto of Hemp Bill

field-of-hemp-2Recently we reported that Washington State Governor Jay Inslee vetoed a bill to legalize industrial hemp for research purposes – in addition to 26 other bills – due to the legislature failing to pass an unrelated budget bill. Now, the legislature has overriden the governor’s veto, enacting the bill into law.

Senate Bill 6206 was given unanimous approval by the state’s House of Representatives, with a 97 to 0 vote. The vote was also overwhelming, though not quite unanimous, in the Senate, with the vote 48 to 1. A two-thirds vote is required to override a governor veto, a number the legislature easily reached.

Under the new law, the state’s Department of Agriculture will be tasked with licensing farmers interested in cultivating hemp for research purposes. It also directs Washington State University to conduct a study on the feasibility and desirabiliity of legalized hemp in Washington, with a report due to the legislature by next year.

I do not agree with THC, but hemp was a legal and lucrative natural crop long before we had a Constitution. The industrial uses alone in commercial applications could right many wrong economic positions the current ruling party have created. Just think what the Hemp Rope market could do if the Justice Department and Prosecuting lawyers would actually prosecute criminals.

So u don’t agree with one of the Main Cannabinoids that work together with the other over 80 cannabinoids in the plant? The Military uses hemp rope still. The reason marinol and adderall don’t work like real THC/CBD is man-made synethic thc has killed patients and has side-effects for many. Anon u need to research the wonders THC/CBD does medically for so many medical issues. Cannabis is God made no one has died from an overdose or allergic reaction from cannabis in over 5000 years. Every single drug the FDA has approved has killed somebody and has side-effects. Keep taking ur wonderful man-made poisons for medical issues.
