TSA Approves Medical Marijuana on Planes

[Update: Within the course of an hour The TSA has removed the acceptance of medical marijuana from their website, and have posted a Tweet saying that; “We’re sorry for any confusion. A mistake was made in the database of our new “What can I bring?” tool.”]

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) now says it’s OK to bring medical marijuana on planes.

On the TSA’s newly updated website, in a section titled What Can I Bring?, the TSA marks Yes for medical marijuana for both “carry on baggage” and “checked baggage”.

“Planning ahead and packing properly can facilitate the screening process and ease your travel experience at the airport”, the page states. “Know what you can pack in your carry-on and checked baggage before arriving at the airport by reviewing the lists below.”

The list includes various items that are marked red for unacceptable, yellow for acceptable with special instructions, and green for simply acceptable. Medical marijuana, on this list, is marked green.

As noted on the website, however, “The final decision rests with the TSA officer on whether an item is allowed through the checkpoint.”

It’s not ok. On the website it states a ‘no’ for both checked and carry-on. Additionally, it states they make no distinction between medical and non-medical marijuana and they follow federal guidelines as they are a federal agency. This is not ok to propagate.
