Marijuana Advocates Double Number of Joints Being Handed Out at Trump Inauguration to 8,400

Marijuana advocates have announced that they are doubling the number of joints they plan to hand out for free leading up to President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20th.

“Due to an overwhelming public response and an unprecedented grassroots outpouring of support for our #Trump420 legalization efforts, we now plan to give away 8,400 joints to adults for free on Inauguration Day,” says Adam Eidinger, co-founder DCMJ. “Without such an organic showing of citizen engagement and participation, we couldn’t have rolled 840 joints a day in just 10-days time. We thank all of you, who have continued to support our mission of driving responsible marijuana laws forward.”

According to a press release about the event; “DCMJ’s #Trump420 legalization efforts encourage adult voters to use their voices and votes to urge President-elect Trump to maintain his campaign-stated support for D.C.- and state-legal marijuana laws, and to keep the U.S. Department of Justice’s hands-off approach to voter-passed responsible marijuana initiatives.”

4,200 Joints are Being Handed Out and Lit Up at Trump’s Inauguration: What’s Your Opinion on This [Poll]?

Is handing out and lighting up thousands of joints at Trumps inauguration a good idea? Answer the poll below!

Earlier this month the DC Cannabis Campaign announced that it will be handing 4,200 free joints the morning leading up to Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20th; they then plan to light up four minutes and 20 seconds into Trump’s speech.

A few days later DC Mayor Muriel Bowser said it’s unlikely that those taking part in this will be arrested; Bowser is a supporter of cannabis legalization.

Since the DC Cannabis Campaign announced this, it has stirred up quite a debate among the cannabis movement. Some have argued that it will only enrage those opposed to legalization; this, they say, could make it more likely that Trump’s Administration will enforce federal cannabis laws.

DC Mayor Says it’s Unlikely Activists Will be Arrested for Smoking Marijuana at Trump Inauguration

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser

Recently the DC Cannabis Campaign announced that they will be handing out 4,200 free joints at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20th.

They plan to light and smoke the joints four minutes and 20 seconds into Trump’s speech. Now, DC Mayor Murial Bowser, a support of legalization, says it’s unlikely those smoking at the event will be arrested.

In DC the possession and use of up to two ounces of cannabis is legal for those 21 and older, with the cultivation of up to six plants also being legal. However, smoking in public remains a misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in jail, so technically anyone lighting up at the event could still be arrested and charge. Bowser’s announcement is likely to ease the fears of many, and increase the turnout of those who will attend.
