New Study: Cannabis May Help Heal the Brain After Injury

A new study published in the journal Cerebral Cortex has found evidence that activation of the body’s cannabinoid receptors mayoriginal lead to neuroprotective benefits which can help heal the brain after a traumatic injury.

According to researchers for the study; “The results provided the first evidence for the involvement of ECS [endocannabinoid system] in the neuroprotective action of minocycline on brain edema, neurological impairment, diffuse axonal injury, and microglial activation, since all these effects were prevented by the CB1 and CB2 receptor antagonists.”

New Government Funded Study Finds THC Improves Sleep

A new study published by the American Journal of Addiction, and funded in part by the National Institute of Health has found that THCmarijuana3 – one of the primary components of cannabis – is “significantly associated with shorter sleep latency”, as well as “less difficulty falling asleep”.

For the study, “Thirteen male chronic daily cannabis smokers were administered oral THC doses (20 mg) around-the-clock for 7 days (40–120 mg daily) starting the afternoon after admission.”

New Study Finds Cannabis Provides Relief From All Symptoms of Cancer

A new study published in the annual journal Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine hacannabisandcancers found that cannabis consumption leads to a “significant improvement” in “all cancer or anti-cancer treatment-related symptoms”.

According to researchers, “Cancer patients using cannabis report better influence from the plant extract than from synthetic products. However, almost all the research conducted to date has been performed with synthetic products”.

Over 93% of Americans Agree that Medical Cannabis Should be Legalized, According to Poll

A U.S. News poll has found that over 93% of Americans believe that cannabis is medicine,iStock_000011929780Small and should be legalized for medicinal purposes. U.S. News is one of the nation’s oldest and most respected political news organizations, founded in 1933.

The poll, which has been questing readers for over 10 days, is found within an article which discusses the recent change of perspective by neurosurgeon Sanjay Gupta (CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent), who recently apologized to the public for opposing medical cannabis in the past, and now believes strongly that it should be legalized.

Cannabis May Treat Primary Symptom of Parkinson’s Disease, According to New Study

A new study being published in the October issue of the journal Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry has foundFEAT_MedicalMarijuana_potLeaf_99807060 that cannabinoids – compounds found in cannabis – can help to improve muscle rigidity (a “freezing” of the muscles), one of the primary symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, and may slow the progression of the disease.
