Obama Administration Willing to Work with Congress to Reschedule Cannabis, Says Attorney General

The Obama administration is willing to work with Congress on rescheduling cannabiscanobama, Attorney General Eric Holder said Friday during a House Appropriations Committee hearing.

“We’d be more than glad to work with Congress if there is a desire to look at and reexamine how the drug is scheduled, as I said there is a great degree of expertise that exists in Congress,” said Holder. “It is something that ultimately Congress would have to change, and I think that our administration would be glad to work with Congress if such a proposal were made.”

This is the first time that the Obama administration has stated that they’d be willing to reschedule cannabis.

Currently cannabis is a Schedule 1 controlled substance, putting it alongside drugs such as heroin.

“There is a great degree of expertise that exists in Congress”…….Really? where? The last time I checked, these assholes are bought and paid for by lobbyists who want nothing more than to stomp out cannabis reform. That is, unless big business is about to take a foothold in the cannabis industry. Only then would it make sense for them to release the death grip that they’ve had for decades. Brace yourselves.

I agree with you Craig. Eric is kissing ass and it is not because he wants to help legalize cannabis.

Craig nailed it…hope your all ready for malboro greens.
Then they will do studies using only “big marijuana” (or slide in the fact that inhaling butane will kill you) that will point to canbabis causing disease and then it will be squashed yet again

The DEA needs to be taken out of control of the medical testing of the cannabinoid drugs produced by the resin glands in cannabis plants. They should never have had any input on the scheduling process of any drug especially cannabinoids because they receive most of their operational budget by enforcing the federal prohibition against the cannabis genus of plants. They have always had a financial interest in maintaining the prohibition and suppressing the medical benefits of cannabinoid drugs like THC and CBD. This became all screwed up because we allowed the DEA, a law enforcement agency, to control policy. It’s a conflict of interest.

If this Administration really wanted to fix this problem they could do so by ordering the DEA to turn over their control of the rescheduling process to a science based federal agency. If they did, cannabinoids would already be rescheduled or completely descheduled.
