New Survey: 78% in Indiana Support Legalizing and Taxing Cannabis

The 2013 Hoosier Survey, an annual statewide opinion poll conducted by the Bowen Center for Public Affairs at Ball State University,Cannabis leaf has found that a large majority of those in Indiana are in support of legalizing and taxing cannabis; in fact, the poll found 78% to be in support of taxing cannabis “like alcohol/cigarettes”, with only 19% opposed to such a move.

Even more surprising is that support was solid among all party affiliations; according to researchers for the survey, the difference in support among Democrats, Republicans and Independents is “negligible”.

This new poll will help to add a lot of traction and mainstream attention to ongoing efforts to reform the state’s cannabis policies. Indiana residents should be consistently contacting their district’s lawmakers (which can be looked up by clicking here), urging them to support cannabis legalization.

The full poll results – which includes a variety of non-cannabis-related questions – can be found here.

Hopefully governor Pence will see this article and choose Hoosier’s wishes rather than support private prisons.

our governor is squarely in the pocket of the for profit prison system. there’s NO hope of any advancement while pence is in office.

The only way to get this scene is to post to Indiana Rep’s facebook pages or add the link into your email. Write your Mayors, write Gov. Mike Pence. Cannabis won’t legalize itself. It is up to all of us.
