D.C. Decriminalization Bill Takes Effect Thursday

A proposal that decriminalizes the possession of up to an ounce of cannabis in Washington D.C., making it a simple $25 ticket rather than ancannabud arrestable misdemeanor, officially takes effect Thursday, despite efforts by federal lawmakers to halt the new law.

The proposal – Council Bill 20-409 – was signed by Mayor Vincent Gray in March, after being overwhelmingly approved by the district’s council. Only one councilor – Councilmember Alexander – voted against the proposal.

According to polling released last year, 75% of D.C. voters favor the decriminalization of cannabis, and 63% favor its legalization.

Earlier this month proponents of an initiative to legalize up to two ounces of cannabis in D.C. submitted well more than enough signatures to put the proposal to a vote this November.

WHY is there a $25 fine. Is it legal or not?
I’m so tired of smelling shit because someone can’t or is too lazy to wipe their ass!
