The ‘Cannabis Bowl’ Most Watched Program in American TV History

This year’s Super Bowl was the most watched program in American television history.

Dubbed by many as the ‘Cannabis Bowl’, the game featured the two teams representingfootball states which have legalized recreational cannabis.

The event drew roughly 111.5 million viewers, surpassing the previous record for the most viewed program in American TV history which was set by Super Bowl XLVI in 2012; that game was viewed by roughly 108 million people.

Although this year’s Super Bowl had no direct connection to cannabis or cannabis law reform, the fact that the two teams involved represent states which have legalized cannabis drew massive media attention to the issue, with outlets such as the Washington Post calling the Super Bowl the “latest front in the fight over legalizing marijuana”.
