United Farm Workers Endorses California’s Prop 64 to Legalize Cannabis

united farm workersThe United Farm Workers (UFW), founded by Cesar Chavez, announced today that they have officially endorsed California’s Proposition 64 to legalize cannabis for everyone 21 and older.

“Proposition 64 will bring legal justice and job training to communities of color that have been cynically targeted by the failed war on marijuana,” says UFW President Arturo S. Rodriguez. “It also extends strong worker and safety protections for those who toil in the fields of this industry and work in every part of the supply chain. UFW is pleased to endorse it.”

The UFW is the nation’s first successful and largest farm workers union currently active in 10 states.

If passed into law next month, Proposition 64 would make it legal for those 21+ to possess up to an ounce of cannabis, cultivate up to six plants and buy cannabis at licensed retail outlets.
