Poll: 60% of New Hampshire Adults Support Legalizing Cannabis, 72% Support Decriminalization

nhA large majority of adults in New Hampshire support legalizing recreational cannabis, and an even higher percent supports decriminalization, according to a new Granite State Poll released this week.

The poll, sponsored by WMUR-TV, shows that 60% of adults in New Hampshire support legalizing cannabis for recreational purposes, with just 35% opposed to the move. When it comes to decriminalizing cannabis, support is even higher, with 72% in favor, and just 23% opposed.

When asked what their preference is in regards to New Hampshire’s cannabis laws, just 22% responded that they want laws to remain as they are; 51% said their preference is legalization, with 24% saying their preference is decriminalization.

Earlier this year New Hampshire’s House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved a bill (House Bill 618) to decriminalize cannabis possession, though it never received a vote in the Senate.
