New Report Determines Average Age of Legal Cannabis Buyer in Washington State

Rethinking Pot Washington Seed to Store Photo EssayAccording to a new report by Headset Inc., the average age of the legal cannabis buyer in Washington State is 37, and the average person purchases $645 worth of cannabis a year.

According to the report – which covered 40,000 legal cannabis purchases between September 1st, 2014 to July 1st, 2016 – the average legal cannabis buyer makes a purchase once every 20 days, and spends an average of $33 per purchase.

Despite the average age being 37, the majority of cannabis buyers are those aged 21 to 34, with roughly 52% falling into that age range. Roughly 20% are aged 35 to 44, 14% aged 45 to 54, and 14% aged 55 and older.

The median amount of money spent per trip rises with age, starting with an average of $27 for those in their twenties, and ending with $64 for those in their eighties.
