Michigan House Committee Unanimously Votes to Legalize Hemp, Establish Hemp Research Program

Michigan’s House Agriculture Committee has given unanimously approval to two hemp proposals, one to legalize the plant and another to establish a hemp research program.hemp

House Bill 5440, which has over 60 legislative sponsors, would alter the state’s Public Health Code to explicitly allow for the legal cultivation and possession of hemp, which would effectively legalize it throughout the state. House Bill 5439, the Industrial Hemp Research Act, would establish a hemp research program which would be directed by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Both measures now head towards a full House vote, where their passage will send them to the Senate for consideration.

Yes. These bills should be passed as soon as possible. I Understand about hemp products and its a great cash crop. Tons of uses and revenue needed.
