Colorado Agrees to Fund Over $8 Million in Cannabis Studies

The Colorado Board of Health has given approval tojilly-bean-medical-marijuana-weed-strain-thcf-jillybeanweed over $8 million in state-funded research on the benefits of medical cannabis. The studies will examine whether cannabis can treat a variety of conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and pediatric brain tumors.

“This is new and uncharted territory,” says Dr. Larry Wolk, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Dr. Suzanne Sisley, a psychiatrist who will help run one of the approved studies which will focus on the possibility of cannabis treating PTSD, agrees; “This is the first time we’ve had government money to look at the efficacy of marijuana, not the harms of marijuana”.

Though these aren’t the only ones, the Board of Health approved the following studies:

Delta Extrax

– Two PTSD studies

– A study comparing cannabis and oxycodone for pain relief

– A study on pediatric epilepsy

– A study on irritable bowel syndrome

– A study on adolescent brain tumors

The studies, which mark the largest ever state-funded effort to research medical cannabis, will be paid for by a surplus of money brought in from medical cannabis registration fees.

This is definitely history in the making. I love it , progress☺. Congratulations!.. I’ve used marijauna since I was young. At one point I got mixed up with the wrong crowd and made very poor choices which led to heroin addiction then , of course , prison! I spent five years of my life behind those fences , not counting all the times I went in and out , like a revolving door. From the age of 11 that was my life. After I was released I suffered from ptsd so I self medicated myself to help. For a fact I can say that marijauna has for sure kept me sane, happy ,nice , as well as motivated. I haven’t touched heroin since Nov. 8th 1999 and I never will again. If there’s any way I can be apart of this awesome study please contact me. I currently live in Baltimore ,Md. but Id be more than happy to move my family for something I feel so strongly about. This article is great☺
