Catholic Archdiocese Donates $850,000 to Fight Cannabis Legalization in Massachusetts

ArchdioceseThe Catholic Archdiocese of Boston have donated $850,000 to the primary campaign opposed to Massachusetts Question 4, which would legalize cannabis for those 21 and older. The donation is a last-minute effort to defeat the popular measure, which is supported by a plurality of voters according to recent polling.

The church’s contribution represents a roughly 50% increase in the total donations made to the Campaign for a Safe and Healthy Massachusetts, reports the Boston Globe. Archdiocesan officials have also sent materials to parishes as well as schools arguing against Question 4.

“It reflects the fact that the archdiocese holds the matter among its highest priorities,” archdiocese spokesman Terrence Donilon says of the weighty donation. “It’s a recognition that, if passed, the law would have significantly detrimental impacts on our parishes, our ministries.”

If passed into law next month, Question 4 would legalize the possession of up to an ounce of cannabis, the personal cultivation of up to six plants, and the licensed distribution of cannabis and cannabis products for those 21 and older.

Isn’t it nice to know that those dollars we plopped in the plate are going to prevent babies from getting live saving help. Nothing like the gratification of watching babies suffer.

The Arch must also hate veterans sooo much that PTSD vets cannot get access to often life saving meds.

The church is taking a political stance on this subject AND THEY NEED TO STOP.

Jesus used cannabis oils on a daily basis, not to get high with…..to get well with.

I don’t see the Arch supporting a ban on opiates prescribed by Doctors and then abused by addicts……where are they on the “DANGEROUS” drugs???

Why are they in support of keeping the safest thing on the planet illegal? Don’t they have access to Google?

Are they soooo out of touch that they still think it’s the devils weed?

    Friggin ignorant fools.
